  This is a hard question! I say take a trip to Karen Walker or Kate Sylvester or Zambesi or some other higher end fashion brand. Or go online. Or go vintage. Actually, lots of those Australian labels do more formal dresses - Sass & Bide, Alice McCall, Bec & Bridge, Camilla & Marc, Zimmermann etc.

  I say go navy or something you can wear again.
