Hi, would you say that the Lonely Hearts tops (like the cotton ones with prints) fade at all/much with wear?
I have a white one from the first season they did the collab with Stefan Sinclair and it hasn’t faded. That being said, I don’t wash my clothes a tonne and I hardly ever put them in the dryer so yeah.
Hi Katherine - do you know whether Lonely Hearts will have a sale anytime soon? Got my eye on one of their coats but mulling whether I should pull the trigger on it now! Thanks :)
No idea, but maybe soon because they’re having a friends and family sale on Wednesday I think.
Does Ben have a large penis?
So I saw the photo of Natarsha on your insta, just curious what are you shooting with her? And is she up in Auckland at the moment? Absolutely stunning she is
Hey, we flew her up for the day to take some pictures for the blog. She’s a great girl.
sorry it's me the ANGSTY teen I'm actually being a whiny baby pterodactyl and I don't know why omg why am I singling you out I mean like unattainable beauty/money standards have been upheld for years it's just so hard like I'm pretty great but I don't know how to get that across without money/beauty/popular social media mediums/being a Jenner #ANGST ANGST #ANGST
Okay so I have been thinking about this and your previous question a lot over the past few days because on the one hand, it’s my blog and I put up whatever I like and I’m not going to please everyone with the content, and on the other hand I really don’t want people to be reading it and feeling depressed specifically because of what I’ve posted. Maybe it’s a catch 22. I don’t know.
Anyway, I don’t know how to respond to this without either sounding defensive, or aggressive, but I feel like I do have to point out a couple of things, if only for the models because they don’t really get the chance to respond:
- I’m going to assume by ‘every 16 year old on your blog’ you’re referring to the models we use in shoots - they come from all sorts of backgrounds.
- Also, most fashion-related shoots are supposed to be somewhat aspirational, but you have to keep in mind that the models are dressed (in borrowed clothes) in a specific way and pose in a specific way and are retouched in a specific way to project a specific vibe. I mean, it’s not reality. But maybe you want to see content that’s more relatable to you? Is that what you’re saying? Because I get that. I guess it’s striking the balance between interesting and aspirational, and relatable.
- I’m going to assume you were just trying to make a point because the idea that all models that appear on my blog are 16 and ‘rich’ is kind of ridiculous because pretty much none of the models are even been paid in real money for any of those shoots that appear on my blog. If they’re 16 they’re usually at school just being school kids so I doubt they are making mega bucks anyway.
To the main point, though. Is it fashion’s fault? Yes and no. Fashion is an industry is obsessed with and fetishises youth and ‘new’ things. We’re all at fault, really. Everyone who continues to perpetuate that idea, anyway - the people who buy magazines and click content, the people who create the images. I mean, I’m at fault for booking young female models, and therefore helping promote that idea of youth. I like to think we (James and I) don’t retouch as much as we could, and we keep the ‘sexy’ to a minimum with the younger girls, but you’re right, I mean, how can I really blame ‘fashion’ without being a giant hypocrite for helping to enable the idea?
With regards to being pretty great and not being able to “get that across without money/beauty/popular social media mediums/being a Jenner” - I mean, money/beauty/popular social media mediums is all just surface. No one really knows what life is like for anyone based on how many instagram followers they have. Money/Beauty/Popular Social Media Mediums doesn’t equate to real happiness, man. If you’re cool with you, other people will see it and none of that other shit really matters.
Did I go off on a major tangent? I don’t even know and I haven’t proofread this so hopefully it makes sense.
Katherine. kath. kathy lee Gifford. Special K. Kramer from seinfeld. this is gonna come off super petty and u dont have to answer this but sometimes when i'm checking ur blog I get a sad case of teen angst because every 16 year old on your blog is a rich model and i'm sitting here in my cold small bed and even though I am fkn #based and #sportsluxe and #dressedlikeabaseballer #exceptcute I still get #sad :-( idk maybe as a teen im not ur niche but then y the teen models? is it fashions fault??
what's your take on Normcore? have you read K-Hole's Youth Mode and what do you think of it? x
Normcore: As a ‘style’ I don’t hate it but I also think the whole idea of dressing a specific way to be ‘anti-fashion’ is actually fashion, so it’s contradictory and pointless. I really think people should wear whatever they want, whether it’s on trend or not.
I haven’t read the whole thing but I probably should considering they coined the Normcore term and they’re trend forecasters so it’ll probably be interesting.
Did you and James discover photography together?
