Hey, love the blog, (Im sure you hear that a lot, but hey I guess its good for the ego!) I was just wondering what is the best way to "break" into the fashion industry? I'm really keen to get into a buyer role for a clothing brand or a distribution role. Is it best to start in retail and try and work your way up? I had a bit of a revelation the other day, that the only thing I'm passionate about is fashion and since Im hopeless at sewing that this might be the best way. Any hints? cheers!
Hey there. You can never really get sick of hearing that someone likes what you’re doing, so thanks for the kind words.
I want to tell you that talent gets you all the way, but often it’s not the case. A lot has to do with who you know. Sure, start in retail if you like. Start however you can. Get to know people, get to know the industry and what you like about it most, what you dislike about it. Learn. If you’re good at what you do, you work hard, you’re motivated and people like working with you, there’s no way you can’t get what you want.
