I want to tell you that talent gets you all the way, but often it’s not the case. A lot has to do with who you know. Sure, start in retail if you like. Start however you can. Get to know people, get to know the industry and what you like about it most, what you dislike about it. Learn. If you’re good at what you do, you work hard, you’re motivated and people like working with you, there’s no way you can’t get what you want.
My blog is one of my jobs. It gets me work sometimes. I freelance. I don’t make much and I don’t have many expenses. I have two credit cards. I get discounts on some of my clothes. I wear a lot of hand-me-downs. It’s like anything, people spend their money on different things. Perhaps clothes are higher on my ‘spending priority list’ than others.

Karen Walker hasn’t done New Zealand Fashion Week for several years. Firstly, I don’t think she needs to, and secondly she shows at New York Fashion Week. Sometimes she does an in-season show, maybe that’s what you’re referring to?
This is a pretty open ended question considering I have no idea of the things you like. Personally, I like some of the Karen Walker frames (the less ‘out there’ ones), Moscots, Ray-Ban Clubmasters and they’ve got these round Yoko Ono looking ones out now which are cool. I don’t mind some of the Supers that are out. Miu Miu has a cool pair coming out this month. I’m feeling the round frames.
